"e-Content: voices from the ground" out NOW
Osama Manzar, Founder & Secretary of the Digital Empowerment Foundation, India and Peter A. Bruck, Research Executive and Chairman of the World Summit Award presented their latest publication «e-Content: Voices From the Ground - Version 1.0» at the United Nations World Summit on the Information Society in Geneva, December 9 -13.
«e-Content: Voices From the Ground» presents for the first time a comprehensive comparison of e-Content and ICT policies on a global scale. It introduces 30 countries from every continent on their way to the Information Society. The book comprises a mixture of expert-interviews and research findings which describe the situation of ICTs in countries like Gambia, Zimbabwe, Indonesia or Bahrain.
The idea for this unique publication was conceived during this years Grand Jury meeting of the World Summit Award, a global initiative to honour best practice in digital media, where experts from all over the globe came together to select 40 outstanding projects from 136 countries.
Osama Manzar, editor and part of the WSA Grand Jury says about the work on the book: "The WSA Jury Meeting in Dubai was a great inspiration for my work. It gave me the chance to connect and share insights with people from different cultures all working in the media and technology sector. The diversity of views on ICTs I experienced there is reflected in our book."
Peter A. Bruck says about the background of the project: "«e-Content: Voices From the Ground» is essential for everyone trying to understand the emergence of the global information society. It brings together experiences and knowledge from 30 countries from all over the globe and gives comprehensive insights in successes and failures on our way to a global information society."
In addition to the book the website http://www.econtentworldwide.org will feature from January 2004 30 interviews with experts in e-Content and multimedia. New interviews will be added there on a regular basis.
